The 49er skiff is a fast, dynamic Olympic class sailing dinghy. For an idea of what 49ers are about, see the video link below highlighting the 2009 World Championships (Lake Garda, Italy).

As the team builds a platform to contest the New Zealand Olympic position in the 2012 and 2016 games, we are inviting sponsors and supporters to join us along the way.

Marketing Proposition

Our teams budget leading up to the 2011 Olympic Qualifier event in Perth is approximately NZ$40,000. Three quarters of which will be self funded. However in an arena where most international teams yearly budgets exceed $100k, additional support is called upon. However some exciting marketing opportunities present themselves.

The Budget

Maintaining the boat is budgeted to cost around NZ$7000 annually. To overcome this hurdle we are looking for sponsors to come on board.

For a 25% share of the primary branding areas on the skiff, trailer, team clothing, and press releases, we are seeking an annual investment of NZ$1700.

In terms of marketing value, we expect to generate at least 3 times the amount of dollar value exposure than that of traditional forms of advertising.

NZ International Boat Show (March 2010 during Louis Vuitton Pacific Series): 25,000+

Auckland training, local racing on the harbour: 5,000+ (annually)

Signage on Trailer while being towed: 2,000+ (annually)

Youtube promotional video: 10,000+ (annually)

Yacht Club Magazines: 5,000+ (annually)

Online Sailing Magazines: 10,000+ (annually)
